Genshin Impact Farming Guide

Weekly boss rotations, talent book days, artifact domains, drop rates, and ascension material routes. Everything you need to farm efficiently.

Use this reference to plan your resin spending. Farm talent books and weapon materials on the right days, save weekly bosses for characters you're building, and hit artifact domains once you reach Adventure Rank 45 for guaranteed 5★ drops.

Weekly Bosses (30 / 60 Resin)

Each boss drops unique talent ascension materials (for talents level 7–10), elemental gems, a guaranteed 5★ artifact, and a chance at weapon billets. Your first three weekly boss claims each week cost 30 Original Resin; the 4th and beyond cost 60. Resets every Monday at 4 AM server time. Pick bosses based on who you're currently leveling — talent books come from domains, not weekly bosses. Heretic of the False Moon unlocks after completing the Nod-Krai Archon Quest.

Drop Rates & Getting Better Loot

miHoYo doesn't publish exact percentages for everything, but the thresholds below are fixed. Hit the right Adventure Rank before burning resin. Farming artifacts too early is the most common waste in the game.

SourceRequirementRewards
Artifact domainsAR 45+ (Level 90 domain)Guaranteed 1× 5★ per 20 resin; ~7% chance for a second 5★
Artifact domainsAR 40–44~35–50% chance for a 5★, poor value; avoid heavy farming
Artifact domainsBelow AR 40Mostly 3★–4★ artifacts; not worth resin
Weekly bossesAny AR (once per week)Talent mats + 1× random 5★ artifact + ~15% prototype weapon chance
World / elite bossesWL 3+ (AR 30+)Chance of 5★ artifact; odds improve at higher World Level
World bosses (cubes, regisvines)WL scales with ARHigher WL adds better ascension gem tiers and material quantities
Condensed Resin40 resin for 1 CondensedDoubles domain and ley-line rewards (2× artifacts per run)
Ley Line OutcropsAny ARMora or Hero's Wit only, no artifacts or ascension mats
  • Wait until AR 45 before serious artifact farming. Pre-45 rates waste roughly 70% of your resin value.
  • You can unlock AR 45 domains without ascending World Level; many players stay at WL 5 until core teams are built
  • Use Condensed Resin on sets you actually need; craft at any woodworking bench with Crystal Cores
  • Check artifacts at +4 before investing past +16. Substats rarely improve after that.
  • Prioritize correct main stats (CRIT Rate/DMG, ATK%, ER, Elemental DMG%) over a perfect 4-piece early on
  • Flowers and plumes cannot roll CRIT main stats. Farm circlets, goblets, and sands for those.
  • AR 45+ domain drops have a higher chance of starting with 4 substats instead of 3
  • Artifact Strongbox (Katheryne at the Adventurers' Guild) trades 3× 5★ artifacts for 1 from a chosen set, great for hard-to-farm off-pieces
  • Farm talent books and weapon mats on their rotation days; use Sunday to catch up on anything you missed
  • Save Fragile Resin for double-reward events. That's when each point of resin is worth the most.
  • Weekly bosses are worth clearing even when you don't need mats. The guaranteed 5★ artifact adds up over time.
  • Strongbox conversion and off-piece farming beat chasing a perfect 4-piece in a single domain

Key Artifact Domains (20 Resin)

Farm artifacts at AR 45+ for guaranteed 5★ drops. Focus on main stats first, a good goblet beats a perfect set bonus on bad stats.

Daily Resin Priority

If you're short on resin, follow this priority order based on what gives the most account value.

  • 1. Character ascension materials from world bosses (40 resin), unlock levels first
  • 2. Weapon ascension materials (20 resin), a leveled weapon matters as much as artifacts early on
  • 3. Talent books on the correct day (20 resin), level burst and skill talents before normal attack
  • 4. Artifact domains at AR 45+ (20 resin), only farm when you know your target set and main stats
  • 5. Ley Line Outcrops, use only when desperate for Mora or Hero's Wit, never over artifact farming

Local Specialty Farming

Every character needs region-specific ascension materials. Use the official interactive map or in-game pins to mark routes. Farm these on off-days when resin is going to artifacts or bosses.
